Poor little Eelam boy who found religion in the slammer

Former head of a well known LTTE front organization, the Tamil youth organization (TYO) in Toronto, Sathajhan Sarachandran has had a sudden jail house conversion recently, five years after he was caught red handed trying to buy IGLA 9K38 man-portable surface-to-air missile systems and 500 AK-47s for $900,000 from an FBI informant and sentenced to 26 years in prison. In a letter written from his jail cell in New York expressing remorse for his dastardly acts of trying to prolong the death and destruction in Sri Lanka, the terrorist says he was misled by many 'so-called Tamil community well-wishers' in Canada aka evil terrorist Diaspora. He goes on to say there was much hate injected into him during his time as the president of TYO. The fellow, after having apparently seen the light belatedly, is appealing to LTTE followers to "just sit down and think about how much hate they have within them and try to admit to the amount of hate they have with them". He is in fact begging them to think freely and not to get trapped in the extremist ideologies.

Anybody with an ounce of sense would have realized what he goes on to explain in great length instinctively, because, if you will pardon the pun, it is what is commonly referred to as common sense. This fellow might have had a genuine conversion or more likely is trying to play up to his parole officers to secure an early release. However, what is important to us patriots keeping an vigilant eye on the hate mongering terrorist Diaspora is the way terrorists seem to have these conversions only after having been swept up by the long arm of the law and having gotten their just deserts, be it this fellow, KP, or any number of repentant 'former' terrorists. I do not recall ever any terrorists in the midst of their blood thirsty rampages or providing material/political support to such dastardly acts of terror, suddenly coming to terms with common sense stated above and helping authorities to apprehend fellow travelers of death and destruction.

When we look around the landscape of LTTE evil-doers today, such as David Poopalapillai of the Canadian Tamil Congress piously claiming ignorance while preaching verbatim from LTTE field manuals, veritable hate factories like TYO churning out future terrorists at a rate while claiming to promote 'Tamil Cultre', former high flying terror financiers like Raj Rajaratnam pretending to be philanthropists, or political proxies of LTTE like TNA pretending to be working towards reconciliation while claiming Tamil homelands, all we see is covert plans to reach the goal that LTTE failed to achieve overtly. Ironically only people who may be trying reconcile with us are none other than rehabilitated LTTE members who carried guns on the ground, not the shadowy mafia capos, though our superb military intelligence is keeping an watchful eye on them following the 'trust, but verify' principle enunciated brilliantly by our Russian friends with the proverb "doveryai, no proveryai". We cannot afford the luxury of giving the benefit of the doubt to any member of the evil terrorist cabal because they will never stop hating and planning death destruction of Sri Lankan people, unless of course they are caught and sent to jail, because hate is ingrained into their DNA. The price we have to pay for our blessed peace is eternal vigilance.

I do not think any of us patriots need to be reminded how these terrorists came so close to dissolving the fabric of civilized society in our beloved Lanka, and how we were terrorized each and every day for past thirty years by these cruel terrorists. But will the next generation of Sri Lankans remember our awful ordeal and how we heroically, as a nation united, finally put down the many-headed terrorist Medusa on our sacred soil by giving no quarter to the evil-doers? We sure do hope so because nothing less than our survival as a great ancient civilization with a fantastic future will depend on it.

at last one idiot has come to his senses behind bars.

2. TE criminals come to their senses ONLY AFTER the long arms of the law takes them down.

3. unfortunately he is still a racist talking ONLY of "our" people which excludes others.

4. nevertheless an exception from the hate mongering TE diaspora.

Moshe, old chap, now after hearing it straight from horses mouth wonder if Canadian government will take down TYO thugs. Not likely given latest speeches from Canadian pols. I think its the same TYO outfit that staged the hilarious (Sakilli)thadi games with teams bearing names of dead LTTE suicide bombers.

Never underestimate LTTE rump, no matter where they are today. This guy is trying to get early parole from US courts and that is why he is writing. However, we should never hesitate to extract facts and use them to keep LTTE rump at bay.

Just to re-post from the previous topic what is a major threat to our food security:

The actions of the US Dole Food Company are of great concern. These people are ruthless and have destroyed nations elsewhere.

Their aim seems to turn bountiful paddy lands into banana plantations.

They have done similar things in South America where nations stopped growing food to feed their people but made bananas instead that helped the American consumer, while the South American countries starved to death becoming entirely dependent on USAID to buy rice & wheat from US farmers.

These are economic hitmen

Somethings needs to be done about this. It is dangerous and worrying. But MR FOOL thinks this is another way to “lower” the war crime bs –getting things like this/being a tool of control and manipulation is the whole purpose of the war crimes bs in the first place.

This is where the country needs a proper opposition, not the sakkillyas we have currently.

Pol Sambol said...

If anyone thinks these Tamils are “changing their ways” that is absolute rubbish.

Its no different to KP who was swearing death to all Sinhalese when Channel 4 interviewed in May 2009 suddenly turning into a humanitarian in August 2009 when he was in an SL jail (well something like a jail).

All these Tamils in the West who were one time promising “rivers of Sinhala blood flowing through Lanka to nutrition the land for Tamil prosperity” and other zealous speeches and frenzied gatherings promising the brutal eradication of Sinhalese today pretend to be humanitarian fighting for rights and justice –best of all now that the LTTE is gone, they claim they never supported the LTTE at all and were against them too.

The vile and vicious hate propaganda against our Armed Forces has started. This is how things began “slow” and “soft” back in 2002. Lakbima is leading the charge. This paper has been revelling in our soldiers and the Government being “grilled” by their white masters and their “journalists” seem to be enjoying the site and potential of our country being laid waste to by their white masters. Taking this as the opportunity to advocate the on all 4s with tongue on boot “foreign policy” saying “yes bass, sorry bass” which is what made and will make the West happy. Apparently the clowns who own Lakbima tried to get some corrupt deals with the Government/Rs and were shunned (around July 2009), so launched a hate campaign to bring them down. That’s “ok” if they want to do that to Rs but these SCUM’s only way of doing so is through their white masters help. Which shows how incompetent and pathetic they are.

But they have gone to far with this piece of “journalism”. It is a known fact when the Armed Forces leave places like Yala, massive logging and hunting for animals as well as growing of drugs is carried out unabated (this happened in the past every time). So wonder what the Lakbima owners are hoping for?

Forces overstaying their welcome and hunting in National Parks

Sam, old boy, hope the parole board will see through his act and let bugger rot in jail. In the photos taken when this fellow was strutting around LTTE camps posing with machine guns only arrogance and stupidly can be seen. If they let him out he will quickly have another conversion back to an evil terrorist. If you do the crime then you got to do the time.

Konnapu Bandara said...

Pol Sambol, old chap, what these Lakbima fellows are alleging is utter BS. I was in Yala as recently as this July and the army camp near the entrance is so unobtrusive you will miss it unless looking specifically for it. One of the mornings when we were heading into the park for early morning safari (around 5:30am) couple of army chaps on leave hitched a ride in our jeep from Tissa junction to the army camp. They told me about the period terrorists had infested Yala shooting animals and game wardens alike. They had to use local trackers to get the scent of the bastards and did shoot down many terrorists who were in the park at that time. Staying in these remote camps is no picnic for these fellows either. When they go on leave they have to take the bus back and walk from the junction to the camp in pitch dark to report to duty. But these soldiers were very polite and humble and thanked me profusely for the insignificant favor of a ride. I told them it was nothing compared to the sacrifices they were undergoing to safeguard all of us.

"TULF wants new land registration scheme stopped

The Tamil United Liberation front has appealed to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to intervene and stop the scheme of registering lands in the Tamil-dominated North and East. The process is flawed and would leave most Tamils landless and homeless, it has said.

Whats this Andasangree donkey up to? He doesn't want the fact to come out that Tamils (living in the N & E) barely inhabit 10% of the land they claim as their so called homOland. It gets even better when more than 60% of total Tamil population do not live in the North and East.

Also to note, he might be trying to hide the massive ToiletNadu migration which happened between 99-08.

Pol Sambol said...

What sickens me is how a hate campaign against our Armed Forces is starting.

It is unbelievable the kinds of lies people will spout, just shows how ungrateful they are to our soldiers.

Furthermore this is how things started under Ranil traitors "without me in power surrendering the country to all and sundry you'll be wiped out" dictatorship.

Nowhere else would kind of "reporting" be allowed.

I think our law enforcement chaps should spend more time issuing international warrants on head honchos of LTTE front organizations like GTF, CTC, and Sangam. I don't know what the delay is. There should be more than enough information in LTTE records we seized at the end of the war.

I agree with the view that this wretched racist whoredog is now showing repentance only for the consumption of the parole board.

This is nothing new.

Many LTTE stalwarts abroad when either being charged or pending charges (of being affiliated with and supporting the LTTE, the banned terrorist organization) have not only readily dumped all connections to the LTTE, but have ventured into a high criticism of the LTTE.

Per my inside info, this is totally acceptable by the present LTTE rump-leadership.

For one thing, they have decided that the next "aggression" or "militancy" will NOT have the LTTE label and hence dumping the LTTE label and criticizing the LTTE are actions of no consequence.

What matters to them is that the LTTE ideology is picked up, nurtured and spewed out - of course at the right time - and the fact that it will be without the LTTE label is of no worry.

My inside info also tells me that they are sending out letters to their now-exLTTE supporters telling them that the "freedom struggle" is not over and that it has taken a new form and that money is needed for the eventual exploration of "other options" !!!

So, if anyone thinks these whoredogs have given up on their machinations for waging war on Sri Lanka to carve out their racist-separatist state, then they are sadly mistaken.

When we battle the use and prevalence of narcotics in our society, do we differentiate between Crack and Cocaine? No, we do not.

In the same vein, this is essentially how we should regard these Tamil racist-separatist MFs going forward.

“Keep the Gunpowder Dry” - should be our motto for self-preservation!!!

On a related matter...

GOSL is releasing a motherload of captured LTTE motherfcukers on a daily basis - almost doing it in Overdrive these days!

This has something to do with the bullshit "war crimes" charges it keeps running into so one cannot really blame it, but in my view this is wrong and bound to explode back in our face.

Yes, what scares me is that this is going to come back and literally, once again, blow us to pieces down the road.

Already some of these released whoredogs have given interviews (when annonimity was assured that is) to foreign reporters that they are ready to pick up arms and fight for the "Tamil Nation" and saying oh btw, no problem, "we know where the get arms/explosives."

This is bloody scary and I for one do not dismiss it as empty-bravado from a defeated enemy.

GOSL is today bending over backwards to please the so called IC (really, there is no such "IC" but only the western countries where the LTTE rump is today bribing the respective politicians with "Tamil votes" and also hefty "campaign contributions" (that may never get booked into campaign account) - running into million dollars in one instance I was told.

Somehow, I am getting the creepies over what is happening.

Soon I hope to be in SL and if I get to meet with the "power that be" in this regard, then I intend to speak quite candidly about this.

If the Gov. is doing these stunts to please the West and “reduce” the war crimes bs then they are plain idiotic. Its like the stupid argument of a “right to information act would “help Sri Lanka’s image and reduce international criticism” which was peddled by the sakillya’s who were trying to get this bs that would damage our national security.

The Government must realise that the West “will not deal with the Rs”, i.e. they want them gone. So no matter what is done nothing will change them or make them amendable. MR like a FOOL thinks he can “shape” them and acts as though SLs grotesque internal political system (jumping ship, trying to kill your enemy then be in bed with them the next day, and this sickening notion “there is no permanent friend or enemy in politics” that exists in SL which makes me want to puke) can be applied to the rest of the world, when it does not.

Haven’t they been taught this lesson like a thousand times over? After two years of being slapped in the face only mid August did GR figure out what hundreds of people had tried to tell the Rs back in 2006 with regards to the situation of SL & The West (they refused to listen or believe it then and tried the "we can shape them" thinking). But I doubt they have the full clear image still.

[canada's policy shift is disturbing. canada was not fooled by toiletmadu jokers until recently]

However, this should not be a surprise.

Per my tracking and speaking with patriots in Canada, I have realized the following:

The Sakkiliyas supported lock, stock and barrel the Liberal Party of Canada in the 80's and 90's and they had a heyday as the Liberals were in power then and them Liberals did squat (naturally) to curb the LTTE's activities [despite the local Police, RCMP and CSIS (Canada's equivalent of the CIA) telling the then Liberal Govt of Canada of the day that the LTTE was a violent, extremist group] as the Liberals enjoyed en-masse Tamil votes, especially I am told in Toronto and the suburbs where a large number of SL Tamils live.

However, eventually the Liberal's fortunes ran out and the majority Canadians kicked them out and now the Conservatives are in.

What has happened is that although the Conservative have won the last couple of general elections and are still the Govt of Canada, they have done very poorly in Toronto and Toronto's suburbs.

The Conservative candidates who lost in those riding have now gone back to the Conservative policymakers with very strong complaints that the traditional Conservative anti-LTTE program has hurt their chances of getting elected and it will continue to hurt them in the foreseeable future - unless the Conservative Govt shows some "friendliness" to these Tamils, i.e. the racist-separatist-LTTEloving Sakkili MFs as we know them.

Well, there you have it in a nutshell.

This is what was explained to me recently when I was in Toronto and now I can see the reason for Govt. of Canada's shift in policy.

This is unfortunate but at the same time it is also realty.

The bottom line:

Never ever trust these western politicians to stick by our Sri Lanka even if Sri Lanka has demonstrated beyond doubt that her cause is 100% noble - because as soon as some Sakkiliyas come and offer them the aforesaid bribes, these corrupt white-gooks will dump all their principles and join them for that easy gain.

In the western world, when loyalties are sought it is not the principles that matter but who is doing what materially to further your personal interests - yes, this I learned long ago.

Fully agree.

Aiding and abetting LTTE, the banned terrorist organization in SL and over 33 major countries, is a serious crime and our Law Enforcement buggers in SL must bring forth those charges NOW!

Sometimes I get so frustrated with the lack of strategy, tactic and acumen from our side when it comes to this key matter of "war crimes" bullshit charge against the LTTE-vanquishing leaders of our beloved Motherland.

Unfortunately for us, the Gonseka whoredog - solely for corrupt political ambition - put his foot in the mouth and utter that "white flag" falsehood and it was only then that this charge began to have any semblance of respectability.

(no achievements thereafter anyway).

Moshe Dyan said...

as you know i have a mixed "heritage" which includes tamil genes too in addition to jewish and sinhalese genes.

what i hear from that side of the family is not good AT ALL.

the govt recently changed the land ownership laws relating to the north-east.

exploiting these, pro-TE MFs have aquired a very large extent of land (most of which they got during LTTE rule). these are now legal.

even the UNCHR (refugees) HAILED these BS laws!!

there goes our colonization opportunities and state LAND. pro-TE MFs are getting rich by the day WITHIN the country!! they WILL leverage their land ownership and riches to restart the TE campaign.

now the govt is getting useless by the day.

TE extortion tactics are working.

meanwhile those who sacrificed to bring peace are LANDLESS!!!

Moshe Dyan said...

i recon we have to mount pressure on the govt to either serve majority interests OR face war crimes allegations.

otherwise the govt is DISPROPORTIONATELY allocating resources to TEs at the expense of the majority.

here are the FACTS.

1. IF or WHEN MR's party loses power, ALL "R"s are doomed. MR, GR, BR, CR, NR, RR, SR, YR and their entire band are going to face war crimes charges.

this is 100% certain.

absence of evidence is no bar.

even if MR stays the president and the parliament falls into the hands of the opposition, it is the same thing.

2. IF the majority blindly support the UPFA, the govt will continue to take majority support for granted.

and they will waste all the resources to win tamil ILLUSIVE votes which they will NEVER win.

3. sinhalese should put pressure on the govt and demand this and that.

OR face political annihilation.

this is the best opportunity for people to get their demands (not JVP BS demands but genuine economic demands).

sinhalese MUST demand ways to make them to economic rulers of this country USING this fear of the "R"s.

why sinhalese?

1. they made over 99% of sacrifices to bring peace.

2. they stood by the war effort all the time comparative to others.

3. even today it is MAINLY the sinhalese at the forefront of the propaganda war. few exceptions are there.

4. protecting the unique language, culture, traditions, history, etc. of SL can ONLY be done by them.

Pol Sambol said...

Very true Moshe.

This Land law change is disgusting.

These TWO FOOLS MR/BR are AS ALWAYS trying to appease Tamils at the expense of Sinhalese taking Sinhala votes for granted, where in the end they give and give and Tamils will never offer the "return" but demand more instead, and still no return as history shows.

This has happened for 60 years to the detriment of the Sinhalese.

It is unfortunate that we do not have a proper opposition.

I agree it is time for a "game changer". We must also use the war crimes bs against them to force them into doing what is RIGHT.

The problem is MR & BR (and that idiot Namal). They even block GRs anti-underworld program.

we should do the same. if MR/BR gives into TE demands (even other than TE itself), they are USELESS.

but the compromise is not to chase them away. then the dirty homo traitors come to power. then everything is stuffed. the right way is to put pressure on the govt to grant our demands or face war chimes.

thanks for sharing.

but i have my doubt about DJ. in the last para, he talks about BS.

what matters is SL's support among UNHRC members INDIVIDUALLY. their support has NOTHING to do with tamil BS, sharing power with tamils, political solutions, etc. it's geopolitics.

that's the line we should maintain.

DJ may have fallen into the trap of USING war chimes BS to milk the govt.

Thanks for the link Sam.

One of the biggest problems was MRs stupidity where he thought "everything was over" back in 2009. Despite being told repeatedly by people on SLs side (both within and out of SL, Sinhalese and non-Sinhalese including some suddhas in the West supporting SL) that it would not be over as the West would never give up "getting at" SL and would milk the war crimes bs as much as they could (Gonseka helped greatly).

Only recently have the Rs figured this out, even though some obvious slap in the face messages were given time and again by the West, they ignored it and viewed things within the boxed up structure of SL politics.

Kicking Dayan out of Geneva was a "mistake" in the sense no one replaced him and it created a vacuum of sorts. Though Dayan was abusing that position to sell his India crap and continued to do so despite being told to shut up.
So i am 50/50 on his booting.

He to thought it was "over" and starting pushing his nonsense strongly. Unfortunately he still does.

I must agree with you 100% here.

Knowing some-info on the inside, I can honestly say that MR has been and is still the same human rights idealist/champion he was years ago (keep in mind he was jailed by the then JR UNP regime for his efforts to try and get some innocent Sinhalese youth, accused of being hardcore JVPers, out of custody - at a time when Sinhalese youth disappeared mysteriously from custody, but hey the West was quite happy about it it seems at worst and not-to-notice of it at best and utter even a single complain about it - yes, this was all during the crackdown on the JVP during the JR/RP dictatorial UNP regime days).

BR is another matter.

Yes, he is the one who was the decisive-force in asking that British-Tamil whorebitch who was arrested by the SLDF (of being in company and supporting the LTTE terrorists) and then brought to Colombo eventually and was facing a stiff jail sentence be released and be sent to the UK!

Yes, BR went soft on the whorebitch...yes, he even met her personally and had "cordial conversations" with her and eventually asked GR that she be released and courteously be sent out of Sri Lanka back to the UK - thinking that this whrorebitch would be grateful for his magnanimous gesture and at least keep quiet about SL (leave aside any expectations of her singing the virtues of the GOSL's humanity and magnanimity!)

Alas, one now only has to see the LTTE's false-propaganda film "killing fields" (peddled by ch4 for money) to know the folly of BR's action here!!!

Such are the pathetic lessons some of our so called leaders have to learn (that these racist-separatist MF Sakkiliyas CAN NEVER EVER BE TRUSTED)!!!

Two similar resorts are also located close to SL Army camp in Kumpu'rumoolai.

One of the resorts in Kumpu'rumoolai is registered in the name of Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan and the other in his sister’s name, informed sources said.

Mr. Muralitharan's sister is allegedly involved in illegal extortion of money from the youths in Kiraan promising employment in SL government sector.

Principals, teachers and government employees in Kiraan are indirectly intimidated to join an institution called “Karuna Foundation” to sustain their jobs and to get new employment in the government sector."

Rajaratnam's conviction is is a warning to other terrorist fund raises that political patronage will not save them from enforcement people going after them, unlike that practised in SL.KP and Kuruna would be behind bars if the enforcement people are allowed to exercise their duty with integrity.Threat to SL will be diminished many more Rajaratnams are put behind bars.News media is not taking any notice of the plight of SL and Ch4 is just an exception forced to attention by the diaspora lobby.
More such prosecutions will keep the stupid politicians away from these guys.
In the mean time, since we are on the focus of the almighty IC,gosl must get their act together, bring much needed law and order under control.Yesterday's killing of the MP tells all that MR has lost the plot.He had thugs and people with criminal convictions as candidates in yesterday's election and there's no need for it and can't see the point in getting these people to politics and around him, while he sidelines the people who put him there.
In time to come the terrorists lobby will be weakened in the West and that should not be taken as a relief by gsol to do what they like because there will be another lot that take the place of the diaspora, the disgruntled people who may rally around the opposition parties who may cry foul that may be taken serious by the IC.Good example is the local Spanish people claiming that their rights are violated by their own people, while the Basque minority is being ignored. So the protest of the majority race will be heard by the IC and intervene in some way. This what is happening in Syria,Libya,Egypt and to some extent in Burma. The way I see any rally by the opposition may carry weight,so I urge the Prez to make the judiciary and the police independent of the executive as there will be checks and balances in it.Yesterdays incident gives no assurance to people, besides alleged murders by the cops. These are no just idle talk.Yesterday the police should not have warned the people in Mullarywa not to indulge in idle talk and this is unwanted and stupid.I could only give good advice and that's all...

What you wrote about the Yala trip is spot on.I too noticed the terrorists in the Yala sanctuary and Siyambalanduwa in Thanamalwila. This I notice on our visit to Eastern proving on the day when Kadirgama and SSP Charles Wijeratna was killed gruesomely in Jaffna.I attended both these funerals. That day there were many killings of the STF boys on sentry duty of which I managed to speak to one or two ether entering Lahugala jungles or Kathankudi. It was a well planned day for many events and we too escaped a suicide bomber at the Kataragama perahera, where all the Tamil peoples vacated the perahera area suddenly and I kept on filming, while I told my wife to run away.A bare footed cop on duty asked me why those people, who were there from afternoon ran off.I said there is a s. bomber close by.For some reason he didn't have the bottle to kill him self, perhaps he must have seen the joy of all communities celebrating the festival so hap-ply.Earlier that day the the tour guides from a place neat Tissa lake took u on a tour into Thanamalwila jungles where the local UG thugs had,in collaboration with the tigers had ganja plantations.Coming back to Kataragama I reported this to a high ranking cop on perahera duty.He plainly to told me mind my own business. After lunch we were escorted to Yala sanctuary by these guides, but was restricted in going to the northern boundary of the park saying that there are too many Tsunami damage house and too dangerous, which I didn't believe. My mates distracted the guide in the 4 wheel drive while some of us walked into the area, where we saw boat tracks pulled into the thick jungle where one or two footprints on the beach were army style boots and jogging shoes.I reported this again to the cops on the beat, but he was more interested in looking at a statue of Buddha suppose to be tearing which was absurd.I have written this perhaps on DW soon after I got back.I thing the cops are corrupt as we rushed down to Kandy I tried to put a white flag for Kdiar who was a friend from my collage days but none of the Tamil shops'had white cloth' and I put a big white bed sheet on a bambo pole and I was told by the SSP on duty to remove as it was a poya day. With a lot of argument with this guy we settled for a white pillowcase. That was the situation then.

He has a chance here to do great things with the super majority in the parliament and should have no need for criminals like these. When business professionals like you who have supported him out of love for the country feel discouraged by these kinds of acts it should ring alarm bells loud in corridors of power. Many of my immediate family and close associates who are business professionals as well feel the same way. Their natural affinity was with UNP, but they saw how when the country was in the abyss facing calamity the President by his courageous stand and leadership brought the country back from the brink. it poses a national security threat as well. we point out to the world on how democratic we are. but when senior politicians including a MP goes around shooting one another, it all shatters.

Sam Perera said...

I also find it very unseemly that President is tolerating these thuggish elements within his party. He has a chance here to do great things with the super majority in the parliament and should have no need for criminals like these.

I agree with KB and perplexed by continued importance given to human refuse like DS and other thugs when President Rajapakse has enough political support to do good things to the nation. He shall start cleaning the government of these thugs and gangsters without any delay. Our country will fall in to the hands of traitors otherwise.

Swarnajith Udana said...

KB and Sam

I agree with you. The first thing they should have done is to change the electoral law to the ward system with the feature of bi-elections. Then these thugs should have been kicked out from the party and the parliament.

If these things were done the government would have got 75% of votes. Also this would have weakened (not put off) the White masters' conspiracy against Sri Lanka.

Moshe Dyan said...

agree with SU.

1. when the FPTP system was there, things were more peaceful.

2. ppl knew exactly who was their rep.

3. their reps were RESPONSIBLE to the electorate.

4. NONE of these thugs can win an electorate. they get votes from here and there and get their district preference votes to get into parliament.

5. MOST democratic countries have that system not this stupid PR system.

6. you need a lot of money to contest under the PR system bcos you have to canvass throughout an entire district. in FPTP system you only have to canvass in an electorate needing less money. more money means more violence, corruption.

7. yes. govt could have won over 70% of seats easily under FPTP system.

8. political bankrupts will not make it to the parliament under the FPTP system.

e.g. ranil, ravi, jayalath, duminda, thilanga will never make it to the parliament.

9. more stable governments subject to by elections.

10. if we have the FPTP system, that is a very good power sharing mechanism right at the lowest level!!!

cons of the FPTP against PR

1. TNA will win a few more seats easily in colombo, ampara, trinco and even nuwara eliya. under the PR system they are not confident to canvass throughout the districts for more seats.

2. by-elections can be abused by thugs.

e.g. by killing a MP at the right time, a criminal can come to power.

3. pro-SL parties in the north and the east will not be able to win seats.

e.g.EPDP, UPFA, UNP will not win ANY seats in jaffna, batticaloa, just 1 in vanni

this can lead to a dangerous situation in the north. this can be rectified with sufficient colonization, not otherwise.

Chaps, though we lament the influx of criminals into the ranks of politicians, we should not forget the eminent men and women of our legal profession. Ours is a country blessed with many brilliant legal minds and I believe one way to bring some of these politicians under control is by empowering the judges and prosecutors to throw the book at these villains. Did you know that right now in Sri Lanka, the three top legal professionals are women? The Chief Justice, Attorney General and the Legal Draftsman are women. Infact this year 15 out of the 16 new lawyers recruited into legal draftsmans office are women. This is some something not even so-called liberal western countries can boast of. Our top legal minds have served in the International Court of Justice, written constitutions of even foreign countries, served as chief justices of foreign countries, trained legal professionals of many legal draftsman's offices in commonwealth countries etc. I am sure these consummate professionals with highest integrity can bring back the respect for the law of the land which has been eroded so badly mainly due this terrible 30 year war. Now men and women of integrity have to stand up and make the rule of law supreme. That will benefit both the common man and the business climate.

kevin said...

What you say have valid points but I am afraid they may not be effective as the legal industry is utterly ineffective, inefficient and corrupt too and it needs a complete overall from the top to the bottom and this is part of the increase in crime and law breaking in the island and it is getting worse. Criminal gangs with the blessings of the politicians are occupying houses by force. These houses are worth perhaps nearly a billion in Colombo and the court cases will drag on, as usual for decades. Cops are unwilling to help. My friends sisters only house is occupied by a murderer who escaped jail where he was a state witness against his mates who are in the death row. He and his gang killed a whole family in broad day light just to grab the victim’s property. In this lady’s case she had been battling the case over 2 years and the guy didn’t turn up but the judge allows postponements. Now he his harassing her, saying that she had made malicious calls to his cell which no one knows the number, resulting in several police inquiries an I too have a land case on encroachment of over ¼ acre of a valuable land where the wrong doer had a collaboration of a reputed bank that give him a loan to buy my land and this case nearing 2 decades. In UK a valuable home was occupied by a well organized bunch of scotters and it took the victim only one court hearing which lasted 20 minutes to decide in one sitting and the bailiffs were able, with the help of the police to evict and secure the property to the legal owners. In fact the set up was so good, my son (he is in the police) was asked to put off his trip to SL next day, was asked to attend the hearing. We were sad that the courts gave the summons only 12 hours brfre boarding the plane, however the courts thanked my son for attending and bought him a ticket and escorted him to the airport at the expense of the state. Will Sri Lanka ever come to this stage? Not in a hundred years I say.Sorry I put this on another thread as well by error.

kevin said...

My friend who was campaigned for the party last week was told by many people that they see the politicians only on the days of the elections and there is no mechanism for the people to see the elected members( of all parties). One said they have a better chance of meeting their politician when they are run over by them by their speeding cars.None seem to have a surgery to meet the people they represent.See if you could find the phone numbers of Temple trees on the web? This is sad and must be rectified,if we are a true democracy. There is no direct accountability to the people at grass root level.

JVP rebels’ bank accounts under probe
Alleged LTTE funds:
October 12, 2011, 9:03 pm

by Saman Indrajith

State intelligence services are investigating allegations that the JVP dissidents led by Premkumar Gunaratnam are receiving funds from the LTTE activists overseas, according to sources.

The LTTE had channeled funds to the JVP rebel group from Canada and Scandinavia, an intelligence operative told The Island yesterday. "We have so far traced a bank account operated by two JVP dissidents, Dimuthu Attygalle and Waruna Rajapaksa at the Homagama branch of a State bank," he said. Refusing to mention the exact amount, he said it had over two million rupees.

Since the dissidents challenged the JVP leadership openly at a party Central Committee meeting on Sept. 19, they have spent over Rs. 6 mn on their propaganda and other activities, according to sources. Besides Rs. 3 mn spent on the launch of its propaganda organ, the recent Che Guevara commemoration the dissidents held at the Janakala Centre in Battaramulla and the country wide poster campaign to announce the event had cost at least Rs. 1 mn, according to intelligence sources.

Some of the dissidents had the JVP accounts operated under their names and after they broke ranks, the part was left with only Rs. 637,000 lying in its official account at the Bank of Ceylon’s Nugegoda Branch. The amount of funds the JVP trade union wing has in its bank accounts is not known.

A spokesman of the dissident group admitted they spent around six million rupees out of party funds. He said the dissidents needed at least Rs. 1.5 mn a month. He said the key JVP fund raisers had sided with the dissident group and people regardless of their ethnic and religious backgrounds were contributing funds to the JVP.

The ‘We are Sri Lankans’ movement launched by the JVP sometimes back to fight for the rights of LTTE suspects in custody and the missing northern youth received a great deal of funds from LTTE sympathisers living overseas. The movement led by former IUSF convener Udul Premaratne had directed funds to some bank accounts without the JVP’s concurrence, a Somawansa loyalist said adding that the matter had been raised at the Central Committee level sometimes ago but in vain.

Anyone who peddles Heroin (or other deadly narcotic) and found guilty of it in SL must be judicially executed.

If however...

they are also found guilty of peddling such to youngster/minors/kids then their limbs must be removed in piecemeal fashion before that execution.

Many countries in the east/middle east that saw the DEADLY CONSEQUENCES LOOMING from the hardcore narcotics addiction seen in the west, and being "imported" into their own nations, long ago decided such harsh punishment (yes, not necessarily OaOA's version :) was needed if they were to assure their countries would not fall into social and economic ruination that eventually pave way for their nations lose sovereignty and independence.

Yes, there are insidious forces at Sri Lanka better pay attention to this serious issue and rise up with remedial measures now or the regret will be no second to the regret we had when we had to fight the LTTE terrorists for over 30 years that saw near-ruination and loss of our motherland.

Aljerkoff has once again engaged in the usual type of bs its infamous for especially with this trash programme called “the listening post”. It had basically the same old tired formula and tales about “media freedom” and the never ending yet baseless stale bs.

But what stood out this time was them saying (along these lines) “the view/mentality of ordinary Sri Lankans to media suppression by the MR regime can be ascertained by the carefully worded statements they tell us, where they know they must be guarded in what they say”. Essentially conveying the line “people are afraid to speak out”. When you look at the filth, garbage and never ending lies in Sri Lanka’s so called media, pedalled the most by the media freedom champions who are extremely corrupt and intolerant we all know the truth.

What is fascinating is how Aljerkoff has tried to spin this. When you listen to what the three people interviewed to convey Aljerkoff’s POV they actually say nothing of the sort to back up what Aljerkoff says. The three people roughly say 1) different media report things as and how they want 2)we expect the media to simply tell us the truth, not make things suitable to them 3)things are fine.

Basically they could not find anyone to support the bs propaganda and editorial thinking and so made a disclaimer BEFORE they showed the interviews. Wonder how many people they sifted through who gave them something close to what they wanted.

The government has at long last
realised the importance of land
reform in the North, and
launched the ‘Bim Saviya’ (In Tamil
‘Bhumi Sayttal’). This is of prime
importance for the North with its caste
system enforced by custom and violence. Once a war has been fought, the
land claimed by the terrorist becomes
crown land. All land deeds within the
‘Eelam’ map should be deemed null and
void, and they should be distributed to
the displaced people, who suffered
under the LTTE. A sizable part should
remain state land for future development. When the internally displaced
persons (IDPs) are resettled, the old
caste structures of the villages should
be erased by uncompromising land
reform. The diaspora landlords who
funded terror cannot have any claims.
Caste and land
In the 16th century, Sankilli captured the North and drove out the residents (mostly Sinhalese) to the Vanni.
The Sinhalese moved to the Vanni and
became Tamils, with names like
Samarasinham, Balasingham,
Veerasingham, etc. They formed a new
caste called the ‘Koviyas’. As the feeble
Sinhalese caste system is an inverted
pyramid (with most people in the
‘Goviya’ caste), these newly minted
‘Tamils’ also ended with an inverted
caste system. This is how the Jaffna
caste system became different from that
of South India.
However, the Colonial invaders
needed labour for the planned tobacco
plantations. The peninsula was very
sparsely populated and so came the
Malabars to Sri Lanka. Some of them
worked closely with the Colonials,
learnt their language, changed their
religion and became the upper caste
land owners of Jaffna. Even when they
converted to Christianity, their caste
system stayed. In fact, the caste system
invaded the church; caste becoming a
basic qualification for ordination.

Moshe Dyan said...

Another caste mechanism was the
‘Thesavalam’ law, a characteristic of
the Malabar region. In practice, this
law ensures that no one can sell a piece
of land unless all the neighbours agree.
So, an uppity low-caste man could not
buy a piece of land unless he pays the
landowner and all his neighbours. Even
then, he could be beaten and chased off
and he will lose his money. The
Malabars close to the Colonials got the
land from the Colonial administration.
The others, the ‘Koviars’ etc., became
virtual slaves, who worked for them.
Thus, the initial inverted caste pyramid
developed a sub-pyramid with a landowning upper caste and a series of
lower castes. Segregated caste villages
developed to reflect this.
Although the 20th century eroded
some of the strictures of the caste system, land ownership remained in the
hands of a small percentage of people.
Many of them moved to Colombo by the
latter part of the 19th century.
This intensified when the JaffnaColombo railroad opened in 1905. These
absentee landlords became parliamentarians and blocked any legislation that
modernised the North. Universal franchise and women’s rights were opposed,
starting from 1929. The building of
causeways and roads that would make
depressed caste villages accessible were
opposed. Upgrading of village Councils
and TCs in the North were opposed by
these ‘Tamil leaders’. When they
realised that Colombo was going to
make caste discrimination illegal, they
launched separatist politics. Then the
Ponnambalams and the
Chelvanayagams could “run their
affairs themselves,” in the ‘exclusive
Tamil homelands of the Eelam’. The
political strategy was to whip up Tamil
racism, aided by Sinhala Chauvinism.
Having come from a depressed caste
and grown up in the 1930s in the Jaffna
peninsula, I know the vicious character
of quasi-slavery, which was maintained
purely by violence.
Separatist politics of the landowner Tamils
They launched the 30-year separatist war on the basis of the
Vaddukkoddai Resolution of 1976, reiterating the ‘Arasu’ (Sovereignty) clarion call of 1949 launched by
Chelvanayagam feigning ‘Federalism’.
Of course, there were some Colombo
Tamils who read no Tamil and believed
in Federalism. For 30 years, the rich
Tamils of the West financed terror in
Sri Lanka, and held the depressed
Tamils (DT) as cannon fodder. The DTs
were used as human shields against the
Indian Army and later against
Government forces. The upper-caste
Colombo Tamils, the Tamil National
Alliance (TNA) and their diaspora
never forgave the Vanni people, because
they breached the confining wall built
by Prabhakaran and some 300,000 of
them ran into the arms of the
Government. The angered diaspora
refuses to aid the displaced Vanni people. Instead, the diaspora spent millions, buying western politicians, NGOs
and TV men to rouse hate against Sri
Lanka, ignoring the Vanni people.
The TNA didn’t ask India to help
rebuild the lives of the displaced people. Instead, they run to India demanding devolution; and now, rejecting land
reform, or shouting ‘Sinhalisation of
the North’. We clearly see what agitates
the TNA most. This land-owner class
instigated a terrorist war to hold ‘their
land’ and keep us as slaves ‘a la ManuDharma’. Now we see their true face.
I call upon the President of Sri
Lanka to go beyond the proposed
‘Bhumi Sayttal’ (‘Bim Saviya’) and
nationalise all the so-called Eelam land
and begin redistribution from a clean

"So who are the most controversial prisoners being freed?

Yihia Al-Sinwar: Was serving four life sentences for his role in the kidnapping and murder of Sgt. Nachshon Wachsman in 1994. Al-Sinwar's brother Mohammed was reportedly involved in the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit, and was a founding member of Hamas's military structure in Gaza.

Muhammad al-Sharatha: Was serving three life sentences for his involvement in the abduction and killing of two Israeli soldiers, Sgt. Avi Sasportas and Cpl. Ilan Saadon. The Israeli Foreign Ministry said Sasportas was kidnapped on Feb. 16, 1989 and shot dead. His body was found in May 1989. Saadon was abducted on May 3, 1989, his body was discovered in 1996. Both cases were also associated with senior Hamas militant Mahmoud al-Mabhouh assassinated in Dubai in May last year.

Ahlam Tamimi: Was serving life terms for being an accomplice in the 2001 bombing of the Sbarro pizzeria restaurant, killing 15 Israelis.

Amneh Muna: Plotted the killing of a 16-year-old Israeli boy Ofir Rahum in 2001 by luring him into the West Bank over the internet, was serving life in prison.
Nasser Yataima: Was convicted of planning the 2002 Passover Seder suicide-bomb attack on the Park Hotel in Netanya, killing 30 civilians and wounding 140.

Husam Badran: Reported to be involved in the planning of the 2001 bombing of a Tel Aviv nightclub in which 21 youths were murdered, the Park Hotel bombing, and the 2002 bombing of a restaurant in Haifa, in which 14 civilians lost their lives.
The most notable name not on the list is that of jailed Palestinian lawmaker Marwan Barghouti, who is serving five life sentences for murder and other charges related to his role in planning attacks on Israelis during the second Intifada. He had been considered by many Palestinians the most important prisoner who might have been released in exchange for Shalit."

a good lesson to SL.

there are 1,000s of hardcore terrorists in custody. they will be freed one day. either the govt will free them, the opposition will free them when they come to power or reconciliation will free them.

already hamas is hailed as gods in palestine for bringing home thousands of criminals some of them serving life terms!!

when that happens in SL, terrorists will be back in action.

the boat strategy remains the only solution.

This is the true Toiletnadu kazuthai style. Their rational centers of brains are not functional at all. On the other hand, they may not have any other job to do either.

"Although, he could have retired on medical grounds after being targeted by a suicide cadre on April 25, 2006, the war hero returned to take over control of the offensive"

Yeah and he gave us the Muhamalai debacle straight away. He was always a dumbass strategist hence why he always failed (see his election campaign itself). He was ruthlessly efficient at implementing OTHERs plans and operations, not ones he created himself which always ended in disaster.

This dumbass lawyer has tried to spin the story that SundayLeader was "working" for MR/GR during the election. Big joke. SundayLeader being the Colombian extremist Christian rag it is and white worshipping hub wanted to bring down MR/GR. They used this fool to the maximum. That said Gonseka has never denied the "white flags" story. So seems more like a "Joint venture".

"The new Sinhalese division at Mullaiththeevu

The Mullaiththeevu district in Sri Lanka recently witnessed an invasion of racist Sinhalese regime by way of a Sinhalese administrative division operating under a Sinhala Asst Govt Agent.

A few weeks ago, Colombo has sent an urgent order to the Sri Lanka Government Agent for Mullaiththeevu district to immediately put into practice the functioning of the new Sinhala administrative division, with eight major villages. Colombo says there are 10,000 people of 2500 households in the new division. 3500 acres of land in the Mullaiththeevu district have been seized for the creation of the new Sinhala division.

Along with the recent Sinhala colonies, some ancient Tamil villages of the Karaithu raip-pattu division of the Mullaiththeevu district are also in the pipeline to become a part of the new division so that wedging north and east up to the very coastline will be possible. This move would impede direct Tamil communication between Mullaiththeevu and Trincomalee without passing through the Sinhala division.

The new Sinhala division will be at a greater advantage to enjoy international assistance given for the North for the resettlement and development of war-affected Tamils. The colonizing Sinhalese will enjoy a bounty while the Eezham Tamils in their land will face total neglect.

Speaking to media, the Asst. Government Agent for Karaithu raip-pattu division of Mullaiththeevu, Mr. C. Dayananda said that it is futile for the Tamil public to protest to the civil officials of the district, as the implementation of the Sinhala division is directly carried out by the Sri Lankan Governor for the North, Maj. Gen. Chandrasri and the Sri Lankan military top brass in the district.

Yet another recent instance of the swindling Sinhalese command is, an Eezham Tamil landowner in Kokku laay in Mullaiththeevu district sustained serious injuries when he was brutally attacked for refusing to give away his land for the construction of a second Buddhist stupa in the area. So sinister were the Sinhalese that he was even driven away from the hospital where he was admitted, after severe warning.
